General UMADD League FAQs
UMADD League – General Questions
What is UMADD?
UMADD (“you mad, bro?”) is a player-created PvP league inside EVE Online. It adds structure, fairness, and narrative to competitive combat through referee-enforced matches, role-based teams, and an evolving ruleset. It’s like mixing rugby, tabletop strategy, and esports inside the EVE sandbox.
What’s the difference between UMADD and Terminal One?
UMADD is the game — it’s how you play, compete, and rank.
Terminal One is the system — it tracks match data, enforces rules, and builds the long-term story.
Terminal One powers the league, but UMADD is the sport.Do I need special software or mods to play?
Nope. UMADD runs entirely within the existing mechanics of EVE Online. All you need is a valid EVE account, a legal fitting, and a willingness to follow league rules. We provide the rest through Discord, league referees, and custom materials.
Can I play UMADD solo, or do I need a team?
While most official matches are team-based (3v3, 5v5, or 10v10), solo pilots can participate in 1v1 duels, scouting events, or serve in support roles like referees, analysts, or match loggers. If you’re new or solo, we’ll help you find a team or get involved.
Is there an official leaderboard or ranking system?
Yes. All verified matches are logged through Terminal One and recorded into a growing leaderboard system. Pilots, teams, and factions can earn ranks, medals, and story recognition based on performance and participation.
How do I join a match?
Start by joining our Discord or connecting with a League-approved Team Manager. You can request a match, sign up for public brawls, or join open league nights. Referees will approve your match and walk you through setup.
How are matches verified or logged?
All matches must be scheduled and approved by a certified referee. Referees call the start/end times, verify participants, and ensure all killmails occur within the official match window. Afterward, the results are submitted to Terminal One for logging.
Who are the referees, and how are they chosen?
Referees are trained players who shadow existing officials before being certified. They are neutral, knowledgeable, and empowered to call penalties, verify results, and maintain match integrity. Some even take on ceremonial or faction-based roles in the lore.
Do I have to be in a specific corp or alliance to participate?
Not at all. UMADD is open to all pilots — solo players, corporations, or alliances. In fact, many matches feature mixed teams or inter-faction rivalries. The only requirement is that you agree to the rules and participate in good faith.
Is there a beginner-friendly mode or tier?
Yes. The Alpha Tier is designed specifically for new players or casual participants. It limits ships to T1 hulls and modules, making it low-cost, low-pressure, and perfect for learning the ropes. You’ll also get matched against similarly skilled pilots.
