Game Balancing Mechanics:
-
How are fleets built for matches?
Each game mode in the UMADD League comes with its own fleet layout and standardized doctrine.
This means both teams know exactly what compositions are allowed — making match planning transparent, fair, and strategic.By standardizing fleets, Team Managers can schedule games in advance, prepare roles, and practice tactics.
These formats promote balance while allowing for creative evolution as campaigns progress and new doctrines are revealed.
-
What are the three tiers: Alpha, Delta, and Omega?
UMADD uses a three-tiered system to balance matches and support pilots of all skill levels and budgets:
- Alpha Tier: Entry-level. T1 ships and modules only — great for new players and low-cost fights.
-- Delta Tier: Mid-tier. T2 ships/modules allowed. Matches are more intense and tactical.
---Omega Tier: No fitting limits. High-end meta, Abyssal mods, full doctrine theorycrafting. Each tier has its own point budget, role expectations, and referee oversight level.
-
Are referees required for every match?
Yes — a certified referee is required for any match to be considered official within the UMADD League.
Referees ensure that rules are followed, players are verified, and all match data (including killmails) is logged accurately into Terminal One.Without a referee, matches are considered unranked exhibitions and do not count toward league stats, standings, or storyline progression.
The ref’s word is final — they are the match clock, the rulebook, and the neutral voice of the League.es here -
Are there role requirements (e.g., tackle, logi)?
Yes, especially in Alpha Tier, where role quotas ensure diversity and encourage growth in all areas as teams move up the ranks.
Higher tiers have more flexibility, but referees may still enforce balanced comp requirements depending on the match format.
-
Can a player, corp, alliance, or team be banned from UMADD?
Yes. The Dungeon Master, Referees, and League Officials have the authority to penalize, flag, and/or blacklist any individual or group that repeatedly breaks rules, disrupts matches, or undermines the league's integrity.
This includes players, corporations, alliances, or entire teams.
Warnings are typically issued first — but repeated offenses or serious trolling may result in full exclusion from official events. The arena is sacred. Respect is non-negotiable. -
What happens if someone disconnects during a match?
If a disconnect occurs mid-match:
Referees will call timeout, possibly allowing a substitution or 1-2 minutes reconnect.
If the player doesn’t return, the team continues short-handed unless a valid sub is available.
Penalties may apply for unapproved substitutions or abuse of DC rules.
All disconnects are logged and reviewed post-match.
-
Handling Trolls:
Griefing is handled directly by referees and bouncer units, who are empowered to remove disruptive players, cancel matches, or issue penalties.
Only matches approved and logged by a certified referee are considered official — so interference has no impact on league stats or standings. In extreme cases, Bouncers may engage hostile actors on-grid to protect the arena.
The league is designed to handle chaos — and turn it into part of the show when needed. -
What are Bouncers?
Bouncers are player roles that ared deployed by the league to silence, disrupt, and subdue griefers during official matches.
They fly specialized EWAR ships — using ECM, dampening, jamming, and other non-lethal methods to shut down interference without escalating combat. They don’t fight.
They embarrass, isolate, and control.
Bouncers answer only to referees and exist solely to protect the integrity and flow of sanctioned league play.
If you're interfering with a UMADD match… expect to be bounced. -
How does UMADD keep matches balanced across skill levels?
The league uses tiered brackets (Alpha, Delta, Omega) with ship and fit restrictions to keep fights fair. Newer players start in Alpha, while veterans graduate into high-tier matches. Referees and match logs help prevent unfair stacking or abuse.
This allows for champions to represent their teams, corporatins, and alliances in the game - competitors rise the ranks from Gladiators to commanders. There are no short-cuts, everyone starts at the bottom in alpha until the Teams are promoted by the league.
-
Can teams use banned ships or fittings?
No. Each game mode and tier has a published list of allowed ships and fits. Referees perform live fit checks or screenshot verifications before matches. Any illegal fitting results in penalties or disqualification to the entire team.
Control your players, or the League will take actions against Team Managers.
-
Is there a ban list or rotating restrictions?
Yes. Some campaigns may include rotating ban lists, limiting certain ships or modules for a week or season. These soft bans keep the meta fresh and encourage diverse fleet builds.
-
How is match size determined?
Match size (1v1, 3v3, 5v5, 10v10, etc.) is determined by the chosen game mode. Team Managers schedule matches accordingly, and referees approve the roster before launch.
Game types vary from duels to full fleet combat.
